Article: County seeks sports complex bids

Shawnee County wants to hear from companies interested in carrying out a project to improve its Lake Shawnee Sports Complex at an estimated cost of $9.67 million.

Commissioners Vic Miller and Shelly Buhler voted at their Monday morning meeting to seek proposals to do the work, with Commissioner Ted Ensley being absent.

The vote came after commissioners heard a pitch from county parks and recreation director John Knight, who said the project will enhance this community's quality of life while attracting visitors who will spend money here.
