RANCHO CUCAMONGA - The mother and sister of a man on trial for
murder were called to testify for the prosecution Thursday, possibly
bolstering a case that could land their family member a life prison
sentence.
When Rafael Quiroz returned to his Temple City home in the early
morning of Aug. 2, 2006, he wasn't acting like himself, his mother
and sister testified in West Valley Superior Court.
Quiroz, then 18, looked confused and upset, and went straight to
his bedroom, testified Rose Bernal, Quiroz's sister.
His mother, April Quiroz, said she asked her son if he and his
friends shot someone. "They shot someone," Rafael Quiroz responded,
his mother testified Thursday.
