EU to fight drug trafficking in West Africa

LAGOS, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The European Union (EU) has pledged its readiness to commit not less than 120 million euros (163 million U.S. dollars) as parts of its determination to phase out drug trafficking, organized crime and drug abuse in the West African region, the Lagos-based Vanguard newspaper reported Friday.

Damiel Ismaila, director Administration and Finance of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at a forum to address the growing problem of illicit drug trafficking, organized crimes and drug abuse in West Africa.
