Article: Half-cent sales tax could spur city improvements

A body of city and county elected officials is being asked to provide money raised through a countywide half-cent sales tax as cash incentives for two local employers looking at making capital improvements.

One is the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., while the name of the other hasn't been revealed.

The Joint Economic Development Organization's board of directors plans to take up the proposals when it meets at 3 p.m. May 26 in the conference room at the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce office, 120 S.E. 6th.
