The field of candidates vying for four, four-year terms on
Greater Latrobe School District's board was trimmed to five last
night, according to unofficial primary election results.
Winning the Democratic nomination were incumbent Kathryn Elder
with 17 percent of the vote, and challengers Eric Hauser with 16
percent, Patrick Landry with 15.6 percent and William Palmer Jr.
with 15.2 percent. Republican candidates for the November election
are Palmer with 18 percent; incumbent Rhonda Laughlin, 16 percent;
Elder, 15.5 percent and Landry, 15 percent.
Elder, 70, of Unity said her 27-year tenure on the board and
background as a former teacher have prepared her well for continued
service.
