Article: Leisure centre signs up its first member

A MULTI-MILLION pound leisure centre has welcomed its first customer, more than two months before it officially opens.

The commander of Catterick Garrison, Colonel Nick Millen, has bought the first membership for Catterick Leisure Centre, which opens on July 27.

Col Millen has overseen the development of the [pounds]22m centre, which will create 50 jobs, and will serve the military and civilian communities.

It has three swimming pools, a six-court sports hall, a fitness gym offering 50 workout classes a week, a dance studio, and meeting rooms.

It will be operated on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD) by leisure management specialists, Bladerunner Ltd.
