If you're going to the final day of the state track meet
Saturday, don't be late. You might miss the best part.
The Class AAA girls 400-meter dash, which is scheduled to go off
about 10:10 a.m. at Laidley Field, is chock full of intrigue and has
the potential to set all sorts of records. And, oh yes, it might
just decide which team takes home the state championship.
A three-way battle has been brewing all season between junior
Savannah Rutherford of Spring Valley, senior Danielle Winningham of
Cabell Midland and junior Josie Crouch of Hurricane. All are capable
of winning, which is why the showdown looms as one of the best of
the weekend meet.
