Jean B. Intermaggio, 84, who retired from the National Science
Foundation in the early 1990s as program director for social and
developmental psychology, died May 16 at the Arleigh Burke Pavilion
nursing facility in McLean. She had complications from vascular
dementia.
Dr. Intermaggio, a former Arlington resident, spent 25 years
working at the National Science Foundation. On sabbatical leave, she
served at the American Association for the Advancement of Science as
an outreach coordinator for Project 2061, an science-education
reform initiative. She had been a congressional fellow with the U.
S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
