The University of Gloucestershire has appointed a deputy vice-
chancellor to manage its business operations.
Paul Bowler, who was deputy vice-chancellor and chief operating
officer at Macquarie University in Sydney, will assume
responsibility for the university's estates, information technology,
finance, human resources and sustainability.
The appointment comes just a week after the university announced
it needed to cut jobs to save pounds5 million a year.
In March, staff were asked to consider taking voluntary
redundancy, but not enough people came forward.
