Criminals in Exeter prison will soon get better physical and
mental healthcare in a move which, it is hoped, could stop people re-
offending.
Devon Prisons Health Partnership has been set up to improve the
health service offered to inmates at Exeter, Channings Wood in
Newton Abbot and Princetown on Dartmoor.
The pounds3.6m contract starts at the beginning of August, and is
set to last for three years in the first instance.
DPHP is a joint venture between mental health body Devon
Partnership Trust and Devon Health.
Governor of Exeter Prison Mark Flinton said: "We have a
dedicated and professional standard of healthcare and want to use
this opportunity to improve its quality and consistency.
