Any hotel manager would give their right arm to say that their
establishment has been graced by prime ministers, cabinet ministers
and even royalty.
The former Midland Hotel is one of the few that can actually
boast such an impressive guest book over the years.
Some would say it is only by virtue of the fact that the hotel
has been in existence for such a long time - since 1841 to be
precise.
However, being able to say that you have hosted royalty is still
a feather in the cap - even if those royals were Queen Victoria and
Prince Albert, who visited in 1849.
The Midland, the oldest railway hotel in the country, is part of
the furniture in Derby.
