I don't think I've ever seen so many fish outside a hatchery.
And it's amazing how the confidence of knowing you are casting to
feeding fish will help you catch them.
After spending three days on Colorado's Frying Pan River with
longtime friend Angus Boezeman, I had a much better understanding of
why it's officially classified as "gold medal" water.
Its nutrient-rich water supports prolific insect life, which in
turn sustains a strong population of brown and rainbow trout.
Because the water is clear, the fish are quite visible once you know
how to look for them.
Maintaining the quality is the obvious goal of the regulations.
