TIPP CITY -- When the search for an official city flower began,
eyes turned quickly to a logical choice -- the mum, a flower that
has brought attention to the city and its Springhill Nurseries for
decades.
The final choice, a dark red-colored mum being grown by Faribault
Growers Inc. of Faribault, Minn., was named Pride of Tipp Mum by the
city's America in Bloom Committee. The committee's recommendation of
the mum as the official city flower was accepted May 18, by the City
Council.
Selecting a city flower was among suggestions by judges in the
America in Bloom program in 2008, City Manager Jon Crusey said.
