Article: Military history comes alive Hundreds of re-enactors gather at Zablocki center to recall every U.S. war

The 19th and 21st centuries intersected this weekend as the boom of Civil War-era cannons echoed across the parking lot of the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center, setting off innumerable car alarms.

It was part of the eighth annual Reclaiming Our Heritage weekend on the medical center grounds. The event brings together hundreds of members of more than 50 re-enacting groups representing every era of U.S. military history.

John Komp of Wauwatosa has come every year, along with his daughter, Cassidy, 10, and son, Baxter, 6, each dressed in military fatigues, along with their friend Maya Magee, 10.
