Article: KQED honors young Alameda County writers

YOUNG WRITERS HONORED: Several students from Alameda County will be recognized Saturday for their submissions into KQED's 15th annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest.

The students are invited to the station, where they'll receive a certificate signed by "Reading Rainbow" host LeVar Burton.

The contest started with more than 650 submissions. Grand prize winners will advance to the national competition.

Area students who will be recognized, broken down by grade level, include kindergartner Krish Kumar, of Fremont, (honorable mention); first-graders Rohini Singh, of Fremont, (first place), Diya Indoliya, of Newark, (third) and Alexandra Shao, of Hayward, ...
