Howard Gardner Caldwell, beloved and loving patriarch of his
family, left this earthly abode on Monday to dwell in the never-
ending life with his heavenly Father through the grace of our Lord,
Jesus Christ. Born in Conestoga on Sept. 16, 1923, Howard was the
son of the late Melvin Blaine and Grace P. (Gardner) Caldwell. He
was married to his treasured Anna L. (Engel) Caldwell for 53 years.
Howard was a 1941 graduate of Manor-Millersville High School,
where he enjoyed the chair of solo trumpet player in the band, and
also played horn in Conestoga's General Reynolds Band.
He was inducted into Company C 94th Chemical Battalion of the
United States Army in 1943, and saw active service during ...
