This week's baseball State Tournament brings back memories for me
of some past state greats. Here are some of the names that run
through my mind from time to time:
Dave Allie - Allie starred at Logan High in 1970 and went on to
play third base for Marshall's NCAA Tournament team in 1973. He is
now a doctor in New Orleans.
Chuck Boggs - He may have been the most feared hitter in the
Kanawha Valley Conference in 1962 and '63 at the old Charleston
High. Boggs, who went on to West Virginia, was a left-handed pull
hitter with good power.
C.R. Burgess - He played in 1972 at one of the state's smallest
