Article: Local Ties: ; Plenty of great baseball players have competed in the State Tournament

This week's baseball State Tournament brings back memories for me of some past state greats. Here are some of the names that run through my mind from time to time:

Dave Allie - Allie starred at Logan High in 1970 and went on to play third base for Marshall's NCAA Tournament team in 1973. He is now a doctor in New Orleans.

Chuck Boggs - He may have been the most feared hitter in the Kanawha Valley Conference in 1962 and '63 at the old Charleston High. Boggs, who went on to West Virginia, was a left-handed pull hitter with good power.

C.R. Burgess - He played in 1972 at one of the state's smallest
