LOUISVILLE, Ill. - A district sales manager for Crow's Hybrid
Corn Co. entered a guilty plea Monday to federal charges he swindled
his company out of $4.2 million and investors out of $3.3 million.
Eric L. Lewis, 33, of Louisville avoided being indicted by a
federal grand jury by entering a guilty plea in U.S. District Court
at Benton to a two-count criminal information alleging mail fraud
and money laundering. Lewis is free on a personal recognizance bond
pending sentencing Aug. 17.
The case against Lewis dates to July 15, 2002, and continued,
prosecutors assert, through August 2007.
