OXFORD - Three candidates are vying for two seats on the Board of
Selectmen at the annual town election Tuesday, June 9.
Incumbents Floyd Thayer of East Oxford Road and Dennis Sanborn of
Gore Road will face political newcomer Timothy Wing of No. Six Road.
Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m at the police/fire station on
Route 26.
For the first time, voters this year will elect officials at the
polls, not the annual meeting. Candidates had to take out nomination
papers and return them by April 27 with signatures of a minimum of
25 registered voters.
The revision in the election process was required by state law
for towns with more than 4,000 resident. That is expected to happen
