Australia sees massive slump in Gold Coast tourism

CANBERRA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- New figures released on Wednesday by Tourism Australia showed the Gold Coast's international tourism market was in a massive slump in the midst of the global financial crisis.

In the year to the end of March, 60,000 fewer international tourists visited the iconic Queensland strip, a fall of 7.8 percent on the previous year.
