Plymouth's top private employer, Princess Yachts International,
has cemented its future in the city by announcing a deal that paves
the way for super-yachts to be built there.
The luxury motor yacht manufacturer has signed the lease for a 15-
acre waterfront site at South Yard - and says it will start
"immediate production" of a new range of large craft.
The deal secures the jobs of existing workers and spares some of
those who were due to be made redundant.
Part of the Devonport Naval base, the South Yard site has been
acquired to enable Princess to build a range of large yachts as
demand for ever larger vessels grows internationally.
