NINE years after winning the Scottish Boys' Championship, Stephen
Buckley has no shortage of incentives as he prepares to set out on
the trail of another national title.
For starters, he'll be a local hero if he can win the DM Hall
Scottish Mid-Amateur Championship over his home course, Royal
Burgess staging the event from tomorrow through to Monday.
And, if that wasn't enough, Buckley also has another carrot
dangling in front of him, the chance to become the first player to
win both the boys' title and this crown for players aged 25 and
over.
"I only turned 25 a couple of weeks ago, so I just made it," said
Buckley, adding: "But I'll still be the youngest player in the
field."
