Sex abuse case goes to juvenile court
CEDAR RAPIDS - A judge has moved a sex abuse case to juvenile
court based on the 17-year-old defendant's clean criminal record and
his remorse.
Zachary Dye, of Marion, is charged with second-degree sexual
abuse and indecent contact with a 9-year-old child. According to
prosecutors, the abuse allegedly happened between Aug. 15 and Jan.
28, 2008.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Marsha Beckelman on Wednesday moved
Dye's case to juvenile court based on a court officer's
recommendation and evidence presented at a hearing.
Beckelman said there is a chance Dye can be rehabilitated. She
added transferring the case to the juvenile system serves the best
interests ...
