Article: Developers launch attack on planning committee

DEVELOPERS have launched a scathing attack on Gloucester City Council for rejecting their proposals for sheltered housing.

Churchill Retirement Living Ltd had resubmitted a planning application at Denmark Road in Gloucester for 48 sheltered apartments for the elderly but with a reduced contribution towards off site affordable housing of pounds174,665.

This was rejected by the council's planning committee at a meeting on Tuesday.

The initial contribution, offered in 2007, was pounds600,000 and councillors felt this reduction was unrealistic and voted unanimously against the proposal.
