Article: Past on Parade: Proposed Pasadena airport once a hot topic

PASADENA - The city of Pasadena in 1928 was considering leasing 68 acres of the city farm fronting on Valley Boulevard for airport purposes.

The city farm was the polite name for the sewer farm.

An illustration from the Pasadena Star-News shows the proposed location of the "Pasadena Air Port." Somehow, when an airport was mentioned in the paper, automobile dealers got mixed up in the story promoting their products.

In this instance, the Hewson Motor Co. of Pasadena was promoting the airport project, along with its De Soto cars, its Pierce-Arrows and an airplane known as the Albatross Junior.
