Ulysses Auger II, 56, the managing partner of the investment
company Corstone Capital and the son of a prominent Washington
restaurateur, died of a heart attack June 7 at his home in the
District.
In 1972, Mr. Auger joined the family business, Auger Enterprises,
a company founded in 1946 by his father, Ulysses "Blackie" Auger Sr.
The elder Auger's flagship restaurant, Blackie's House of Beef,
opened in 1949 at 22nd and M streets NW in the West End.
The company eventually became a hotel, real estate and restaurant
empire, owning at one time or another the Washington Marriott and
Embassy Square Suites hotels in the West End, the Mayflower Hotel,
the Washington National Airport Hilton in ...
