The uniforms were turned in and the banquet was held.

The season was over for the Kenosha St. Joseph baseball team.

"Being a senior and not playing in college, it was, like, 'Wow, this is the last time I'm playing baseball,' " senior first baseman Joe Pignotti said.

St. Joseph lost to Racine St. Catherine's, 2-1, in a Division 3 regional final on June 3.

"I knew a lot of them didn't care to go to the banquet the next night," St. Joseph coach Jon Olson said. "The kids were still hurting from the day before."

The day after, however, was a different story.

Word slowly spread through the school that St. Catherine's had to forfeit, meaning St. Joseph was the team that advanced to the sectionals.
