Article: Hot Dad's Day gift isn't a tie

It's Father's Day and the necktie isn't what it used to be.

Men still wear ties, of course; so do some women. But the days of getting up on Father's Day and opening a present with a tie inside are fading.

I found this out this week when I visited a couple of men's clothing stores in Salt Lake City to do a story on how many more ties they sell for Father's Day.

Do they start stocking up in April?

Do they put on extra staff in the tie department?

Do they order those golf ball and fishing ties by the thousands or hundreds of thousands?

Are the ones that light up when you put batteries in them still big sellers?

Turns out it's none of the above.
