KAMPALA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Uganda is hoping to take advantage of the high global food prices and the increased regional demand of its agricultural products to beat the adverse effects of the global economic slowdown.

Opolot Okasaai, the commissioner for Crop Production and Marketing in Uganda, told Xinhua in a recent interview that the government in the next financial year 2009/10 which starts July 1 has made preparations to boost production.
