The Waikato region put up a strong fight for a national
agricultural technology award won by a Manawatu firm.
Four of the six finalists for the New Zealand Agritech Inc's
Commercialised Innovation Award, won by Farmworks Precision Farming
Systems for a feed reader which calculates dry matter production
from grass, were from the Waikato and the fifth runner up was
Canterbury firm Donaghys.
Hamilton's Gallagher Group was in the running for for its
SmartTSi Farm Weighing and Data collection system which uses
electronic identification tags.
The 71-year-old company, which shed 20 jobs in April, is also one
of 10 finalists who could win $1 million in research and development
services in ...
