Sister Adelaide Curtis
Sister Adelaide Curtis, age 101, died at Seton Residence on
Wednesday, June 10. She was one
of four children born to George and Camille (Mestayer) Curtis on
March 9, 1908. Sister Adelaide entered the Daughters of Charity in
St. Louis, Mo., on October 26, 1924.
The majority of Sister's ministry was spent serving as a teacher
and housemother. Her first mission as a teacher was at Holy Trinity
School in Dallas, Texas, from 1925 until 1936, when she began
teaching at St. Vincent School in Perryville, Mo. In 1943, Sister
Adelaide went to St. Rose's Home in Milwaukee, Wis., where she was a
housemother and teacher. During this time, she earned a bachelor's
