Article: Duplex to get 'fortified' designation Built to withstand what nature can dish out

A man's home is his castle, goes the old saying.

A new West Bend house, which is being built to resist tornadoes, hail and other hazardous weather conditions, takes those words to heart.

The side-by-side duplex, at 1934-1936 Barton Ave., is being built by Habitat for Humanity of Washington County. Habitat is partnering with the Institute for Business and Home Safety, a nonprofit insurance industry group, and West Bend Mutual Insurance Co. to build the home with the institute's designation known as "Fortified . . . for safer living."
