The Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) expects the current economic
recession to benefit the traditional Cornish pasty as families
switch from eating out in restaurants to enjoying bakery goods.
For hundreds of years Cornish pasties have been popular with
Cornish folk wanting a low cost, quick and nutritious meal.
Back in the 18th century miners would take a delicious Cornish
pasty down into the pits to keep them going during the day. Now, 200
years on, the current economic recession is bringing a new
generation of pasty lovers.
Today, the mines may be closed but the popularity of the Cornish
pasty is certainly not waning. Tourists flock to outlets across the
region to buy the tasty baked goods ...
