The Westcountry will see some of the highest temperatures in
Britain as a heatwave sweeps the country next week, according to
forecasters.
Temperatures could soar to 30C - the highest of the year so far,
says the Exeter-based Met Office.
As well as long spells of hot sunshine, it will mean muggy nights
- with highs of up to 18C - and a risk of thunderstorms.
The forecast has prompted the Met Office to instigate level two
of its heatwave plan - which comes into force when there is a 60 per
cent risk of high temperatures in more than two counties on at least
two consecutive days and nights.
