In May, my husband and I packed our bags and made the 10-minute trip to Intercourse for a minivacation celebrating our wedding anniversary.

It was the first time we stayed overnight in the heart of Amish country - away from home, that is.

Known for its antique shops, country boutiques and homestyle cooking, Intercourse was convenient for us. But another reason we chose it was the romance of The Inn & Spa at Intercourse Village.

We booked services in advance at the day spa: an hour massage for my husband and a pedicure for me. We looked forward to the five- course candlelight breakfast the next day in the Victorian dining room.
