CROMWELL -- The TPC River Highlands course yielded low numbers
all day Sunday in the final round of the Travelers Championship, and
Scott Verplank and Bubba Watson took advantage by challenging the
course record of 9-under-par 61.
Verplank entered the 18th hole at 8-under and had a 16-foot putt
for birdie. But the downhill putt rolled by the lip of the cup and
went about four feet past. He made the par putt to finish 15-under
for the tournament and in a tie for ninth place.
Watson, who was at 8-under entering the 17th hole, hit a fat 3-
iron shot off the tee that landed in the rough. He bogeyed the hole
