Hours after warning that there was still more to come from his
players, Werrington skipper Ben Smeeth led his team to a nine-
wicket victory over Newquay on Saturday.
Smeeth believes that his side has still not performed at its best
despite leading the Jolly's Drinks ECB Cornwall Premier League from
virtually the start of the season, but he may not be able to offer
that argument too much longer on the evidence of this latest
triumph.
Werrington's batters did not get the work-out they wanted ahead
of next Saturday's clash with St Just - Mark Hodgson was the only
man to lose his wicket in pursuit of the visitors' 108 - but the
leaders' bowling attack certainly looks to be operating at peak ...
