Article: Walnut Creek golf course operator leaves after 33 years on the greens

More than 30 years ago, it was Bob Boldt's idea to re-christen the city's golf course with a new name and a new identity. He called it Boundary Oak, after an oak tree that marks the boundary line separating Contra Costa County and Walnut Creek.

"I thought, 'Let's give (the course) a little class,'"‰" Boldt said.

That's how much history Boldt, director of golf, has at the course -- he named it.

And on Wednesday, the course will undergo another identity shift, as 71-year-old Boldt turns over the course to new management.
