Frank Marchi, a well-known and respected golf professional in
Dayton for 35 years, died in Naples, Fla., on June 17. He was 86.
Marchi worked for 30 years (1953-83) at Miami Valley Golf Club after
serving as an assistant to Norm Butler at Wright-Patterson from 1950-
52.
After retiring from Miami Valley because of health issues in
1983, he operated Penn-Terra Golf Course for two years before
retiring to Florida and selling his interest in the course to Chris
Hale.
Marchi was the youngest of four brothers from Columbus who worked
as golf pros in the Dayton area. The oldest, Gene Marchi, was head
pro at Miami Valley from 1936-63. Al Marchi, who once won the Ohio
Open, was head pro at Walnut ...
