Article: Williams back on champs target

Hamilton sprinter Monique Williams has pronounced herself on target for the world athletics championships in Berlin in August.

Williams this week eased herself back into competition running for the first time since the New Zealand championships back in March when she competed in the Gold Coast winter series meets in Australia last weekend and last night.

She won the 60 metre sprint in 7.58s last Saturday and followed that up with a second behind Australia's Sally McLellan in 11.72s in the 100m.

Last night she ran slower than she wanted but still won the 200m.

In her first 200m of the season, she ran 23.76s, but most importantly, beat top Aussie sprinter Melissa Breen.
