It could be a strange scene next season when the Freedom High softball team takes the field for its first game. There will be someone new throwing the pitches, and someone new hitting in the No. 4 spot in the lineup.

It may be the understatement of the year to say Hannah Williams meant quite a bit to Freedom softball.

Williams ended a storied high school career with perhaps her best season, leading the Falcons to a 23-4 record, a Bay Valley Athletic League title and a runner-up finish in the North Coast Section Division I playoffs.

For her outstanding individual accomplishments, Williams has been chosen as the East Bay Softball Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
