Article: Man held in theft of GPS units from cars

ROCKLAND - A Waldoboro man has been charged in connection with the theft of global positioning devices during car burglaries.

Adam Niemeyer, 21, of Waldoboro was arrested after being stopped by police for a motor vehicle defect at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputy Police Chief Wallace Tower said that officers Matthew Lindahl and Joel Neal stopped Niemeyer for defective brake lights. When they approached his car they noticed "four or five" GPS units in plain sight. The units were apparently stolen and individuals in the car cooperated with police during questioning, Tower said.
