Article: SUMMERFEST The Fray is a tight-knit group

In rock 'n' roll terms, it's certainly been the path less taken.

Three of the four members of The Fray attended Christian Faith Academy in Denver. Most of them are married, and the band joke is that if the rest of the group caught a member indulging the Garden of Groupie delights, they'd forego a reprimand and "skip right to murder." One of guitarist Dave Welsh's favorite on-the-road diversions is critiquing new restaurants.

Originally a local sensation in Denver, The Fray got a kick- start from repeat exposure on the soundtrack to "Grey's Anatomy." Epic signed the quartet in 2004, and the title song for its 2005 debut album, "How to Save a Life," quickly became a hit.
