Article: Cheltenham family urges people to be aware of signs of dementia

Henry Gibson is urging families to be aware of the symptoms of dementia so they can spot the condition early if it strikes their loved ones.

When the 19-year-old's father David, from St Marks, Chelten- ham, started getting confused and forgetful his family and doctors initially did not know the cause.

It wasn't until he was admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack last summer that tests revealed the 60-year-old former teacher was suffering from vascular dementia.

Now Henry and his sister Maud, 21, want to raise awareness that the disease can affect younger people.
