Don't represent majority

I am responding to Serena Dietrich's letter "Board ignored concerns" and the opinion piece by Kerry Cook, "A call for task force to find common ground on Lesson 9."

Ms. Dietrich contends that "the will of the majority of stakeholders was ignored." No evidence supports this claim. I attended the meeting at Alameda High School, where 90 percent of the speakers that I heard voiced their opposition to the curriculum. However, 80 percent of the opponents were Asian and that 75 percent of that subset were women. The speakers did not reflect the composition of our community.

It also seems unfair as far as how the speakers were chosen. The opposition arrived at the City ...
