BOSTON
Man sentenced for stealing tax money
A Danvers man who is a former executive of a company that
collected delinquent motor vehicle excise taxes for the city of
Boston pleaded guilty in Suffolk Superior Court yesterday to
stealing millions of dollars from the city, Attorney General Martha
Coakley said. Stephen Colahan, 53, the former president of Walker
Associates Inc., was contracted by the city from 1995 to 2007. From
June 2001 until August 2006, Colahan repeatedly transferred
collected taxes to a Walker account, totaling $2.7 million, and
submitted falsified reports to conceal the theft, the attorney
general said. Colahan also made $800,000 in repayments to the city
over that period. ...
