When Helene Hewitt was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago
all she could think about were the important things in life.
"All life's trivial worries drain away," said the 37-year-old Met
Office scientist. "And you are simply left with the things you love
and care about the most, which for me was my family."
Helene, who lives in Newton Poppleford, near Sidmouth, with her
husband, Chris, and daughter, Imogen, six, successfully underwent
treatment for breast cancer and is now in the follow-up stage.
"I received brilliant treatment from the staff at the Royal Devon
& Exeter Hospital," said Helene. "They put me on a course of
chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and really looked after me the whole
