Article: Increase in number of people using buses

More people are using buses in the region, according to North Lincolnshire Council.

Figures released by the authority show 4.1-million people used the bus service in 2008-09, a 46 per cent jump from the 2003-04 figure of 2.8-million.

The improved numbers have been put down to a variety of factors, including better publicity and information at bus stops, improved bus stops and shelters and interchangeable discounted tickets.

Enhancements to the national concessionary fare scheme, such as travel before 9.30am, have also helped, along with increased frequency of services.
