Neighbors predicted new runway noise
THANK YOU for your June 22 editorial "Noisy neighbors at Logan,"
in which the Globe calls on Massport to honor its solemn and legally
binding promises to the towns adversely affected by the use of the
new runway at Logan Airport. We noticed the difference immediately
when the runway came into use, with far louder takeoffs waking
people up before the crack of dawn in Cambridge, and I feel fairly
certain that conditions worsened even more for other municipalities
closer to the flight paths.
A phone number dedicated to collecting useless complaints served
as a transparent sop to all who noticed the difference, while the
authorities tried denying the reality ...
