With prices up and the stock market down, many families are
finding themselves a little cash-strapped this summer vacation
season.
But Gov. Joe Manchin and state Division of Tourism officials want
to remind West Virginians that exciting and affordable getaways are
right in their backyard.
Beginning this morning, Manchin, accompanied by son Joseph and
grandchildren Joey, Madeline and Sophie, will take a half-day
whitewater-rafting trip down the New River - one of West Virginia's
most popular, tried-and-true attractions.
Manchin and family then will grab a quick bite at Smokey's on the
Gorge before experiencing one of the state's newest attractions, a
TreeTops Canopy Tour.
